I know I’ve told you about my Pocket before; the little online place where I keep all the things I don’t want to remember, the key element in my efforts to organize all the things/people/places/thoughts/inspirations I want to hold close.
It has come to my attention that I haven’t shared anything from this stockpile in some time (because in an already adventurous life, we’ve managed to pack more in, and that seems to translate to this space being pushed to the back burner) and so, here we are. And ya know what, I’m ok with it. We’re pretty goal oriented around here. There was a time when embracing the reality of a missed personal goal would have been an absolute natural disaster hitting the house. These days, recognizing that shifted goals aren’t “failed goals,” is the tune I’m humming and it feels nice, really. I truly believe that we’re all doing the best we can with what we have at any given moment; just realizing that this is the case gives us so much more. In this year of change, I find myself feeling really thankful that through it all, somewhere, I was able to turn to this belief to keep me sane. To give myself the opportunity to ignore the goals that my mind and body wanted to set (in racing, in work and in life), and to re-identify those goals in line with what my little soul wanted, what my life needed, what time and energy and whatever-is-out-there-in-the-universe-turning-the-globe would allow.
Anyway, point being, regretful is something I have not been. But I have been….
Inspired by these women + the way they’re taking over the world
Captivated by you, honey
Frightened by this harsh reality.
Touched by this local tradition.
Happy to share this passion with this favorite blogger.
Stoked. Because how could you not be after watching this?
Interested. Because even after years in the restaurant industry, I didn’t really know this side of the story.
Preppy. Because the sneakers/the glasses/the woman.
Flattered, to be part of the launch of this gorgeous new line of women’s adventurewear!
Full, because cooking this to celebrate the purchase of our first place was very worthwhile!
I might have forgotten to mention that we’re moving. This week. And so our Thanksgiving feast will be unconventionally spread between two kitchens and a few other places. That said, I’ll be back later this week with a recipe for something we’re ACTUALLY making amidst it all, and something that I think you’ll enjoy making amidst it all, too. -xo L
**P.S. The image in the header is one that Derek took while we were in China on the morning that we were sailing through the fog of the Qutang Gorge. I was hunting singletrack from the deck of the boat, pretty overwhelmed by the beauty of it all. I shared this image with Bowndling last week to help announce their new line of women’s #adventurewear. I mention them above – ladies, you’re going to want to watch this brand! A big thanks to this crew for inviting me to be part of this project – so flattered! **
