How do I avoid digestive distress during training + racing?
How do I manage blood sugar spikes?
How can I use real food to fuel my training?
How do I know if my gut is healthy? I just want to poop!
Modern sports science loves to lead us to believe that our performance is equated with the fuel we put into our bodies.
But ancient wisdom in a modern context reminds us that what we put in our systems can only can fuel our excellence if we can digest it properly.
Our circuitous commercial food system, consumer packaged products, supplement culture and chronic disconnection from nature have made healthy digestive systems very hard to come by. Especially for athletes, whom require fuel that feeds poor digestion and digestive practices. Poor meal strategies, poorly designed sports nutrition products and a lack of understanding about how the digestive system functions are all of our pitfalls. But simplifying our approach with ancient wisdom empowers us to fuel simply, better.
By incorporating a strategy of real-food fueling, and better understanding how to support our digestive systems (instead of sabotaging them) we’re better able to fuel well for training, racing, rest and life – all nourishment opportunities that stack up to a strong fueling strategy.
