It’s about that time of year when we all start frantically searching for low-lift recipes with high impact, and I’m throwing this recipe for Showstopping Multiseed Crackers into the ring — for you and for me!

If you’ve been following along, you know that not *that* much has changed in my kitchen since 7-month old little Leo arrived. I’m still that seemingly unreasonable, uncompromising woman determined to eat the kind of foods that make every meal feel ceremonious, and yet I have a little bit less time to make it all happen.

Which is precisely why I love recipes like this one. To stand in the snack aisle is to know that there are a mindboggling number of cracker options out there, and they’re all *just fine.* And you could make these crackers yourself in the amount of time it would take you to decide what to pick off the cracker-full shelves. There’s nothing special about all those crackers.  And some of them are downright undelicious. But there isn’t a reason that crackers – that you snack on yourself when you’re making dinner, that you dunk in your soup or top with lox or cheese or hummus at lunch, or serve to your guests at all of those upcoming holiday gatherings – can’t be special. Remarkable! Delicious! Really, SO GOOD. It might be the best 15 minutes you’ve ever spent.

Why make your own crackers?

Because your crackers, specifically THESE crackers, are devoid of gums, fillers, fake flavors, stale spices. Because making crackers is ridiculously easy, and doesn’t take much time. Just 15 minutes of active time in the case of these easiest ever, Showstopping Multi-Seed Crackers! A few other reasons: these crackers would be a lovely thing to bring with you as a house-warming gift for those holiday gatherings, as a truly impressive starter with cheeses or dips when you have guests yourself, and if for no other reason, because it’s really satisfying to make something like crackers yourself. And, YOU CAN DO IT.

What makes these crackers so special?

These ridiculously phenomenal crackers are gluten-free, vegan, so so crunchy, packed with protein, so so flavorful, and so versatile too. Similar to a knäckebröd, these cracks are substantial, sturdy, and wonderful as platforms for creativity, as accompaniments to other great kitchen feats, and can even be crumbled up to add a little texture and crunchy to just about anything.

The other key feature here is that they literally take moments to put together, but will really please, tease and impress all of the cracker eaters in your life. Low-lift, AND high-impact? Yes please! We may not be here for gratification from others, it feels real good when someone you love says “hey these are GOOD!” And, it feels even better when you know they’re right.

Where to plug in these cracks:

I love to use these crackers anywhere you’d use a knäckebröd; as open-faced sandwiches, to dip in hummus, slather with nut butter, scoop into soup, crumble into salads, and generally nibble on. In the recipe below, you’ll find that you can break the crackers into any shape you choose. I love to break them into organic shapes and even serve them that way, but if you wish you can score them before baking which will allow you to break them into squares, big rectangles, slim sticks….whatever your pleasure. And that means you can craft the cracker of your dreams.
