Sama Vritti is the “equilibrium breath.” It comes from the Hatha Yoga Pradipika — one of the oldest texts on pranayama, the practice of working with breath as medicine. Sama means equal. Vritti means movement, or fluctuation — it’s actually the same word used in the Yoga Sutras when Patanjali talks about stilling the movements
